Humanity Eclipsed

Disinformation swirls in the digital breeze,

Falsehoods painted with deceptive ease.

Truths eroded, trust in shambles lie,

Polarization grows as beliefs collide.

Negative campaigns, a crushing blow,

A divided nation, falsehoods sow.

Voters weary, discourse torn,

Policies lost, debates forlorn.

Tearing opponents, what does it bring?

Cynical hearts, alarm bells ring.

Misanthropy breeds in the hearts of the crowd,

Substance lost, only anger allowed.

Gerrymandered lines carve the land,

Power grasped by partisan hand.

Fairness drowned in a crimson tide,

Democracy's hope cast aside.

Voter suppression, a shadow cast,

Barriers built to deny the past.

Marginalized voices lose their right,

Against the tide, they claim their fight.

Partisanship's call, loyalty's tithe,

Us versus them,  the price is high.

Hostility reigns, the taste of bitterness,

Democracy betrayed, replaced by eristics.

Turnout falls, representation thin,

Eroded trust where democracy’s been.

The people don’t rule under Anarchy’s hold,

Refusing accountability,  the country implodes.

These strategies poison, corrode, and tear,

A fractured nation gasps for air.

Yet in this darkness, where souls are strained,

Equality for all, must light the way.
